5" Cove Cup Wheels

Cutting and shaping a concave cove profile in concrete and stone, rather than grinding a flat surface. The wheel's profile is what forms the radius, which is how you produce a cove edge on a countertop, step, curb or sill in one operation instead of trying to work it freehand.

Three 5" wheels: 30 grit for shaping and taking the profile down, 60 grit for refining it, and 120 grit for the finish pass before polishing. Work through them in order, since 30 grit leaves a scratch pattern the 60 has to remove before the 120 can do its job.

Vacuum brazing bonds the diamond directly to the steel with a metallurgical bond rather than holding it in a sintered matrix. The result is a very aggressive, free-cutting tool that holds its profile, which matters a great deal on a shaping wheel where the shape is the whole point.

They are threaded 5" wheels, so they screw straight onto a standard grinder spindle with no flange or nut. Check the thread and the guard clearance on your machine, and use a variable-speed grinder if you have one, since profile work benefits from being able to slow down.

Wet is preferable on profile work: it cools the wheel, flushes the slurry and gives a cleaner surface. Take it in passes rather than trying to form the whole cove at once, keep the wheel moving steadily along the edge, and let the profile of the wheel do the shaping instead of tilting it. For dry work, use a vacuum rated for silica.
