Cup Wheel for HILTI®

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes these cup wheels Hilti® specific?

They are 6" wheels built to the mount and guard dimensions of Hilti® grinders, so they seat correctly in a machine where a generic 6" wheel often will not fit inside the guard. These are World Diamond Source tools made to fit those machines, not Hilti® OEM parts.

Which two wheels do you make, and what is the difference?

A spike-segment wheel and an L-segment wheel, both 6". The spike segment concentrates contact into points, so it bites hard and is the more aggressive of the two for coatings and high spots. The L-segment spreads contact over more diamond, which cuts a little slower but leaves a more even surface and lasts longer on general concrete grinding.

What are they for?

Hand grinding concrete: knocking down high spots, taking off trowel and form marks, prepping a slab for coating and working areas a floor grinder cannot reach. They are removal tools, so follow with a finer cup wheel or a grinding disc when the surface has to end up smooth.

Will they fit a grinder other than a Hilti®?

Not reliably, and that is the point of the category. Guard clearance and spindle mount differ between makes, and forcing a wheel that does not seat properly is unsafe. Call us at 800-611-8278 with your grinder make and model and we will point you at the right wheel from our wider cup wheel range.

Wet or dry, and how do I handle the dust?

Hand grinding is normally dry. Dry grinding concrete produces respirable crystalline silica quickly, so run a dust shroud with a vacuum rated for silica, or wet the surface where your setup allows. OSHA's silica standard sets out the dust controls expected for hand-held grinding on concrete.
