Tile & Stone Tooling

Match the bit to the fixture, not the pipe's nominal size. We stock tile hole saws from 1-5/8" up to 5" and vacuum brazed core bits from 1" to 1-5/8", which covers the usual shower valves, mixer taps, waste pipes and anchor holes. The most requested sizes are 1-1/4", 2", 3", 4" and 4-1/2".

Our tile hole saw bits are rated for dry drilling, which is why they ship with a shank for a standard drill. Even so, on dense porcelain and on glass we strongly recommend keeping the bit wet: it cuts faster, keeps the tile from chipping and greatly extends bit life. Run at low RPM and let the bit do the work without leaning on it.

Vacuum brazing bonds the diamonds directly to the steel, so the bit is far more aggressive and can cut on the side as well as the face. That makes it the right choice for enlarging or shaping a hole, cutting an odd profile, or working on stone and marble. For plain straight holes in tile, a standard tile hole saw is the more economical option.

Start at a shallow angle to score a ring, then bring the drill upright once the bit has a groove to follow, or use a drill guide with a suction base. Never start a hole with the bit flat against slick glazed tile at full speed, and always start slow.

Yes, we stock dedicated glass tile blades, including 10" sizes for wet saws. Glass needs a continuous rim rather than segments so that the cut edge does not chip, so a general purpose tile blade is not a substitute.
