Wheel of Death

It is our Signature Series 16-grit cup wheel built for fast, aggressive removal: leveling high spots, taking down trowel and form marks, and stripping heavy material off concrete. It is a removal tool, not a finishing tool. Follow it with a finer cup wheel or grinding disc when you need a smooth surface.

4", 5", 6" and 7". The 6" version is built to fit Hilti® grinders. Match the wheel to your grinder's guard, not just its motor, because an oversized wheel will not fit inside a smaller guard.

A threaded wheel screws straight onto the grinder spindle with no flange or nut. A non-threaded wheel has a plain arbor hole and mounts between your machine's flanges. They do not interchange, so check your grinder before ordering. We stock both in 4", 5" and 7".

Because that is the grit that does this job. 16 grit exposes large diamond that bites into concrete and coatings and clears the debris instead of loading up. A finer grit on the same work would glaze over and stop cutting. When you need to refine the surface afterward, step to a 30 grit wheel or a 24/36 grit grinding disc.

It runs dry, which is how most hand grinding is done, and dry grinding concrete produces respirable crystalline silica quickly. Use a dust shroud with a vacuum rated for silica, or wet the surface where the tool and setup allow it. OSHA's silica standard specifies dust collection for hand-held grinding on concrete.
