PCD Cup Wheels

Coatings and adhesives: epoxy, urethane, glue, mastic, paint, thin-set residue and similar sticky material. PCD shears the coating off the slab instead of loading up with it, which is exactly where a diamond cup wheel gums over and stops cutting.

4", 5" and 7". The 4" and 5" wheels are for hand grinders and edge work; the 7" covers more ground per pass and is the workhorse where the machine can carry it. Check your guard size, not just the motor, because a 7" wheel will not fit inside a 5" guard.

Fewer, larger PCD segments are the aggressive choice: more pressure per cutter, faster on thick or stubborn coatings, rougher on the slab. More, smaller PCDs spread the load, leave a smoother surface and are easier to control on thin coatings. Our PCD-Zilla wheels also come with 12, 18 and 24 sharp-edged PCDs for that reason. Thick mastic wants large; a thin coating you do not want to gouge wants small.

The threaded wheels have a 7/8" - 5/8"-11 thread and screw straight onto a grinder spindle with no flange or nut. The universal-arbor PCD-Zilla wheels mount between your machine's flanges. They do not interchange, so check the spindle on your grinder before ordering.

Usually yes. PCD gets the coating off but leaves a scored surface, so follow it with metal-bond diamond to flatten and open the concrete, then step up through the grits to whatever profile the new coating or polish calls for. Tell us the coating and the finish you need and we will lay out the steps.
